Valiant and heroic, Optimus Prime is known across the world is leader of the Autobots, throughout the Transformers franchise. He is often portrayed as a robot whose primary vehicle mode is that of a semi truck. He made his first on-screen appearance in 1984′s animated series, Transformers, during the first episode entitled Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye: Part 1 (#1.1). Optimus Prime made his first ever live action appearance, in the 2007 film Transformers from director Michael Bay. Once again, Optimus Prime was depicted as a semi truck. But rather than the usual cab over design, which many fans had become accustomed to, Prime was now a conventional Peterbilt cab design truck. And unlike the animated series, a trailer did not suddenly appear behind him when he transformed into truck mode, and then disappear when he transformed back into robot mode.
Optimus Prime is the awe-inspiring leader of the Autobot forces. Originally a civilian, he was chosen by the Matrix to command, the first in a number of heavy burdens he has been forced to bear. Another is his bringing of the Transformers’ conflict to Earth. The complete opposite of his mortal enemy Megatron, every casualty, human or Cybertronian, weighs heavily on his spark. He does not show this side to his soldiers, and he never succumbs to despair. The Autobots need a decisive, charismatic leader, and that is what he gives them. It was that leadership which turned the tide of the Great War.
On the battlefield, there are few who rival Optimus Prime’s prowess. His ion blaster and his energon-axe are deadly weapons, though lacking when compared to others. He is easily the strongest of any Autobot his size, and what he lacks in raw firepower he easily compensates with guts. He would sacrifice his life to protect his fellow Autobots or those under their care, and has on a few occasions. His compassion for other sentient beings is his only real weakness, and one the Decepticons have taken advantage of time and again… though it’s also the source of his strength!
Prime (usually) carries within him the Matrix of Leadership.
Before being rebuilt into a Powermaster his robot mode split into three components:
Although Optimus Prime can function as three independent modules, injury to any one module is felt by the other two.
Bumblebee

Name: Bumblebee
Affiliation: Autobot
Function: Scout
Alternate Modes: Yellow Volkswagen Beetle. Yellow and Black 1977 Chevrolet Camaro. Yellow and Black 2009 Chevrolet Camaro.
Height: 16 feet, 2 inches.
Motto: “The least likely can be the most dangerous.”

Often the underdog, Bumblebee is known as the younger brother type of character among the Autobots, throughout the Transformers franchise.
Bumblebee made his first on-screen appearance in the original Transformers animated series in the episode Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye: Part 1 (#1.1). In fact Bumblebee was the second Transformer ever seen on-screen. Wheeljack was the first. He was first seen on Cybertron as transforming into a yellow Cybertronian vehicle. But was later modified, along with the other Autobots, into the vehicles of Earth for their alternate modes. The form chosen for Bumblebee was that of a yellow Volkswagen Beetle. Bumblebee was known as the close ally of the humans, especially to Spike Witwicky. He was voiced by Dan Gilvezan.
Bumblebee was one of the five Autobots featured in the 2007 live action film version Transformers from director Michael Bay. Sent to Earth as the protector of Sam Witwicky, Bumblebee chose the form of a 1977 Chevrolet Camaro, but later modified himself into a 2009 model of the same vehicle. His vocal processor was apparently damaged in battle, thus rendering him a mute throughout most of the movie. But, by the end of the movie, his voice had returned and he chose to stay on Earth with Sam. He was voiced by Mark Ryan for the two lines which he spoke.
Jazz

Name: Jazz
Affiliation: Autobot
Function: Second-in-command.
Alternate Modes: Porsche 935 Turbo. Modified Hardtop Pontiac Solstice.
Height: 15 feet, 7 inches.
Motto: “Do it with style, or don’t bother doing it.”
AUTOBOT JAZZ remains one of the best-loved characters from the original series. He lives by the “rock ‘n roll” lifestyle credo of “if you can’t do something with style, it’s not worth doing at all.” He is very cool, stylish, and competent. He is daring and clever. He has near-perfect recordable memory that makes him invaluable as a documenter of battles, equipped with a fusion engine that allows him to reach sub-light speeds in vehicle mode.
Autobot Jazz was among the Autobots who followed Optimus Prime(R) on his mission to seek out new worlds aboard the Ark. They were attacked by Megatron’s(R) ship, the Nemesis and crash landed on Earth, where all on board were preserved in emergency stasis. In 1984, a volcanic eruption awakened the Ark’s computer, Teletran-1, and it repaired everyone on board. It reformatted Autobot Jazz in the form of an automobile.
Self-possessed, calm, and utterly collected, Autobot Jazz is head of Special Operations, with his own dedicated roster of agents. He often gives the most dangerous assignments to himself. It’s not a matter of ego — he just really has the coolest head for the toughest missions. Autobot Jazz’s ease extends to whatever environment he finds himself in, no matter how weird or wonderful. He effortlessly tunes in to the local culture, assimilating and improvising, and making creative command decisions, making him an indispensable right-hand Autobot to Optimus Prime.
Ironhide

Name: Ironhide
Affiliation: Autobot
Function(s): Weapons Specialist/Security Officer/Military Strategist.
Alternate Modes: Nissan Onebox Cherry Vannette. GMC Topkick Pick-up Truck.
Height: 25′
Motto: “High tech circuitry is no replacement for guts.” “i don’t go around…i go through!”
IRONHIDE is a tough hombre, a cowboy who is all action and has been around the universe a few times. One of Optimus Prime(R)’s oldest friends, he is probably the most battle-scarred of his brethren. He is usually in charge of safekeeping anything or anyone of importance, and acts as Optimus Prime’s personal bodyguard. His favorite saying: “High tech circuitry is no replacement for guts.”
Gruff, but kind, he shoots a variety of liquids from super-cooled nitrogen to super-heated lead. He has sonar, radar, radio-wave detector. Although he’s the slowest Autobot(R), his skin is made of a trithyllium-steel alloy injected with irradiated carbon fibers, giving him immunity to most forms of attack and making him the least vulnerable Autobot.

Witty and intelligent, Ratchet is known, throughout the Transformers franchise, as the chief medical officer of the Autobots. He is often portrayed as a robot whose primary vehicle mode is that of an ambulance. He made his first on-screen appearance in the original Transformers animated series, in the episode Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye: Part 1 (#1.1). He was portrayed by both Don Messick and Wally Burr in the animated series.
Ratchet made his first ever live action appearance, in the 2007 film Transformers from director Michael Bay. but instead of being an ambulance like the one he protrays in the tv show, Ratchet was now a hummer h2 fire department search & rescue vehicle. And unlike the animated series, he wasn’t a standard red and white ambulance, he was lime green, with Search and Rescue accesories all over the vehicle. Robert Foxworth provided the voice for Ratchet in the live action movie.

8. Sideswipe

Sideswipe is a cocky, headstrong warrior class Autobot. He has always been identified by his brash and reckless behavior. However, he is one of the most skillful fighters. He’s more into battle for the sport of it. A bit of a jock, Sideswipe most craves a glorious fight to the finish as a test of his mettle. There is a reckless edge to Sideswipe’s tactics. He makes rash decisions that may endanger him, all in the name of possible victory. Cheating is also not out of the question. When everything is on the line, for Sideswipe, nothing is out of the question. However, Sideswipe is not without his humor. It’s long accepted that Sideswipe is the resident prankster.
Sideswipe and his twin brother Sunstreaker (not featured in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen) are inseparable. The two push each other to the limit in speed and combat by always trying to out do the other. This bond with his brother along with his fiery spirit is what makes Sideswipe of the top Autobot Warriors.
9. Jolt

Jolt has a tendency towards mischief making. Like any prankster, he’s pretty impulsive, and if trouble rears its head, you can bet Jolt is going to try to be in the middle of it. (Though he more often ends behind it, mostly out of focus, as luck would turn out.) Luckily, he’s got the fighting ability to make sure his head stays on his shoulders, utilizing electric whips in battle.
He loves to act crazy in battle: it disorients and confuses the Decepticons, drawing them in close so he can whip ‘em!
When the Autobots mobilized in response to a sudden surge in Decepticon activity, Jolt rolled into action at the head of the pack, but he was not among the Autobot team who fended off Megatron and Starscream after the two Decepticons killed Optimus Prime in a forest brawl. Jolt reunited with the other Autobots before they headed back to the NEST base on Diego Garcia, but the team was scarcely given any time to mourn Prime’s passing; as soon as they returned, they were accosted by military forces under the command of Theodore Galloway. The emotionally brittle Autobots did not take this show of force well, and charged their weapons; Jolt began emitting bright sparks of electricity in anticipation of a fight, but things soon calmed down as Galloway announced that NEST was being disbanded by presidential order.
Jolt later accompanied the Autobots and their human allies to Egypt, for a climactic battle against The Fallen‘s Decepticons. During the course of the battle, Sam Witwicky used the Matrix of Leadership to bring Optimus Prime back to life, at which point the aged Jetfire volunteered to sacrifice himself, so that Optimus could use his parts to give himself a power boost. Following Ratchet’s directions, Jolt used his electric whips to link Prime up with Jetfire’s remains, generating an electromagnetic field that levitated and bonded the necessary parts to Prime’s body, giving him a powerful new flight-capable form which he then used to destroy The Fallen.
OTHER AUTOBOTS:

Arcee – Ducati 848
In the Marvel UK comics, there are no female Transformers until a human feminist accused the Autobots, who are treated as males, of being sexist. The Autobots initially argue that sexism is impossible for their genderless race, but they build Arcee to prove they are not sexist. Though Prime later decides that it was a mistake to build her just to prove they aren’t sexist, he recognizes Arcee as a valuable Autobot.

Chromia – Suzuki B-King 2008
Chromia, Firestar and Moonracer – These three feisty females were Elita One’s top agents (and additionally, along with two other unnamed females, comprised the entirety of her forces), and the friends/romantic interests of Ironhide, Inferno and Powerglide, respectively. When Moonracer was caught in a booby-trap during one of the trio’s raids on Shockwave’s energy stockpile, the continued existence of the Female Autobots was finally revealed to the Decepticons, and Shockwave was able to trail them back to their base and capture Elita One. When Optimus Prime was then lured to Cybertron, Ironhide, Inferno and Powerglide followed and were reunited with their ladies. At BotCon 2005, these three females finally made it into toy form, in a roundabout sense. The Transformers: Energon Arcee figure was remoulded and repainted to resemble Moonracer, but the name could not be legally acquired for the toy, and so she was dubbed Chromia.

Elita-One – MV Agusta F4 R312
Elita One – Originally, Elita One was Ariel, girlfriend of dockworker robot Orion Pax, but when the two were fatally wounded during one of Megatron‘s first attacks, the ancient Autobot, Alpha Trion, rebuilt them as Optimus Prime and Elita One, using the same set of schematics. Elita desired to accompany Prime on the Ark’s mission, but he refused, saying it was too dangerous. When a Decepticon ambush struck the Ark launch site shortly before the craft took off, Elita disappeared in an explosion, and Prime believed she had died. This was not the case, however, and in the following four million years, lead her troops in a guerrilla war against the remaining Decepticon forces on Cybertron, advised and aided by Alpha Trion himself, unaware of her connection to him. In 1985, Shockwave uncovered the location of the Female Autobots’ base and the Decepticons were able to capture Elita One, using her as bait to lure Optimus Prime to Cybertron. Prime almost met his end in an acid bath, but Elita used her hidden secret weapon – a stasis field which effectively froze time, allowing her to pull Prime from the path of the acid. However, the ability was a sacrificial one, as it drained almost all of Elita’s energy. With Elita now hovering on the brink of death, Prime took her to Alpha Trion, where Trion revealed that only Prime’s power supply could properly interface with hers (as a result of their shared schematics). Still unaware of Trion’s hand in his creation, Prime re-energised Elita, and the two helped rescue their comrades from a Decepticon attack. Elita and her forces elected to remain on Cybertron and fight the battle there, while Prime returned to Earth.

Jetfire – SR-71 Blackbird
Jetfire, an elderly Transformer who was sent from Cybertron on a mission. He was once a Decepticon but then converted to an Autobot. Sam Whitwicky uses a shard of the allspark to revive Jetfire, who was just a corpse in the Smithsonian Aerospace Museum in his alternate form of an SR71 Blackbird. Jetfire explains to Sam that the symbols Sam is seeing are actually Cybertronian characters. Later in the movie, Jetfire gives his spark, armour, wings, ect. to make Optimus Prime even stronger.

Wheelie – Blue RC
Wheelie first appeared in the 1986 Transformers Animated movie, as a stranded Autobot/heroic robot who behaved like a child: he used a slingshot, and frequently spoke in rhyme, in a high pitched voice. He transformed into a “futuristic” car for a vehicle mode. Most fans did not like Wheelie much.
IDW, a publisher of comic books licensed to print Transformers comics from Hasbro, the American side of Transformers action figures, printed a 2009 Wheelie solo story features the diminutive robot befriending a race of aliens by speaking in their native language, a rhyme. Wheelie’s vocal components are slightly damaged, causing him to continue rhyming to the present day.
In 2009′s Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Michael Bay decided to include an homage in the form of a small robot named Wheelie, who is a Decepticon spy known for his foul language. This incarnation of Wheelie (unrelated to the older version) changes into a small RC-style truck with satellite tech. After an encounter with a human and an ancient Decepticon that defects to the Autobots, Wheelie joins up with the good buys, but still retains his rude manners when he humps Mikaela’s ankle.

Megatron is the founder of the Decepticon uprising, and their most well-known and feared leader. As a young, charismatic leader forged in battle and the heritage of war, he began to believe in a grand purpose for his race—it is the Transformers‘ glorious destiny to rule an empire which will span the universe. The opposite of his mortal enemy Optimus Prime, he feels great contempt for other Transformers who, he feels, betray their proud heritage by demanding peace and cooperation with weaker life forms. It is the destiny of the Decepticons to bring order to the universe through conquest, though in the millions of years since coining this purpose it remains to be seen how much of his mission statement is altruistic… and how much of it is mere words built to fuel warriors to further his desire for personal power.
Megatron will attempt almost anything to achieve his goals, but his schemes are rarely in any way subtle. This is perhaps due to his arrogance, but his pride is not so strong as to dissuade him from abandoning a battle he is losing. Some would question his sanity, though these few are mostly now dead by his hands…or his Fusion cannon, depending on his mood. Sometimes he uses his energon mace to strike them down. It does not matter how they die. Death by the hands of Megatron is an honor.
His Earth Alternate mode is usually a modified Walther P38. His Fusion Cannon becomes the scope.
Sometimes, Megatron is later reborn as Galvatron.
Fallen

If the first Transformers were Cybertron‘s disciples, then The Fallen is its Judas. At the dawn of time, he was Megatronus Prime, one of a brotherhood of vastly powerful beings dedicated to the well-being of their world. But The Fallen would gain his current moniker by turning against his brother Primes and his purpose to pursue his own ends. His frightening form is a metal cage for primal, burning forces of chaos, giving him the appearance of a living furnace. These cauldron-like forces purged him of what empathy and morality remained.
The Fallen is immensely powerful. He commands mystic, entropic arts, and when at full strength he can un-make creation at his focused will. He is rarely defeated; at best he is contained, where he waits with eternal patience for the chance to unleash his dark powers once again. Though he has at times been imprisoned between dimensions, this rarely lasts. When his power is at its height The Fallen can open space bridges and travel between dimensions and realities at will.
If there is any reprieve, it is that there is only one of him. Like his brothers, The Fallen is a multiversal singularity,[1] meaning that in all of the vast multiverse, he has no alternate-universe doppelganger. He may appear different in different realities but that is merely surface, it is always the same singular force of eldritch evil beneath. In several realities he is the originator of the Decepticons, the catalyst that prompted Megatron to claim power for himself rather than the greater good. While the exact details of his past are complicated beyond the understanding of mortals,[2] two things remain consistent: He is bad news, and he’s on fire.
“You…you’re from
before, aren’t you?”
Starscream – F-22 Raptor

Starscream is the treacherous Decepticon Air Commander and the deadliest of the Seekers. The self-reported pride of the Cybertron War Academy, he’s famous not only for his incredible skill, but also for his limitless (and troublesome) ambition. Starscream believes that he is more suited for command than the Decepticon leader Megatron. Thankfully for Megatron, Starscream’s mutinous, power-grabbing plots are almost always transparent, and he can never muster up enough patience to complete a grandiose power play. Even on the few times he has taken control of the Decepticons, he quickly loses control of a situation, but is too arrogant to realize when he’s in over his head. He never learns from his mistakes, but then again, Megatron doesn’t either, seeing as how he’s never turned Starscream into slag. Despite his constant failures, Starscream believes it is only a matter of time before he prevails—his destiny is inevitable.
Starscream’s never-give-up attitude extends even to the afterlife: unlike most Transformers, he has a mutant, indestructible Spark. His life-force cannot be destroyed and can persist even without a body to contain it. However, there is no indication that Starscream (or anybody else) was aware of this fact prior to his destruction.

CAR DECEPTICONS:
Barricade

Barricade is a true Decepticon. An evil robot, who takes the alternate form of a police car.
A race car in the original action figure line from Hasbro, Barricade was altered to become a police car in 2007′s live action film Transformers from director Michael Bay. His alternate form of a Saleen-Modified Ford Mustang Police Cruiser, makes him similar in appearance to the Autobot Prowl. (Who was featured in one of the original drafts of the script, before the writers thought that a Decepticon police car would be a better idea.)
Barricade is one the main Decepticons featured in the film, and is actually the first to be seen speaking English. (Not counting Prime’s opening narration, of course.) His role is that of the hunter/scout of the Decepticons. And his personality is similar to that of a cliché “bad cop”, as seen when he fiercly interrogates Sam Witwicky. (“Are you user name ‘LadiesMan217!?”). His rear quarter, in vehicle mode, reads; “To punish and enslave…”, rather than “To protect and serve…” And his front quarter features the Decepticon logo where the police logo should be and the writing; “Pacis Quod Alcedonia”, Latin for “Still, Halcyon Days of Peace”. And “Incorporated since June 1865″.
Strangely, Barricade vanishes from the film before the end. He is last seen during the freeway chase, when Optimus Prime takes down Bonecrusher. Sam even acknowledges him, during the chase. (“It’s the same cop.”) Although he is killed by Prime in the film’s novelization and comic book, Barricade’s death is never depicted on-screen. Leading to speculation that he survived the battle, and will return for the film’s sequel Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Although he was expected to return for the film’s sequel and the same model car as Barricade’s alternate mode was spotted on set, he did not return for the sequel. Leaving the dissapearance of the Decepticon police cruiser a still as-yet, unresolved mystery.
Barricade was voiced by Jess Harnell in the film.

Sideways

Sideways is the consummate con-artist. He is misleading and deceitful in everything he does, and he lives for the look of shock and betrayal on his victims’ faces when they realize he’s played them for fools. When the displaced population of Planet X allied themselves with Unicron to avenge themselves on Gigantion, this treacherous nature made him the perfect robot to pull off the ultimate act of treason – an attempt to sow confusion between Autobot and Decepticon to prevent them from uniting to oppose his dark master.
Back on Cybertron, Sideways was a simple courier who avoided combat at all costs. He tried to always remain in the shadow of larger Decepticons, where the Autobots might not notice him. On Earth, he’s keeping much the same practice. He teamed up with Demolishor early on, and hopes that if the Autobots find them, the big Decepticon can keep him safe. He’s pretty much a coward since he should’ve transformed when Sideswipe was chasing him. but, who can even defeat Sideswipe, right?
HEAVY DUTY VEHICLE DECEPTICONS:
Bonecrusher

Bonecrusher is a Transformer that can be described with one word: Hate. While other Decepticons get by on greed, ambition, or just their fondness for dispensing chaos, Bonecrusher is fueled by sheer, unrelenting hate. He hates everyone and everything, be they Autobot, Decepticon, or anything in-between—he even hates himself, revolted by his misshapen, hunchbacked robot mode, which he considers a reflection of all the ugliness and malice inside himself. The full force of this vicious cycle of hatred finds release in explosive frenzied bursts of psychotic brutality, as Bonecrusher takes out the full force of his bitterness and self-loathing on anyone who looks at him sideways. He hates that. He also hates Megatron, but would hate being terminated by the Decepticon leader more, so he sticks around.
On Cybertron, Bonecrusher was actually quite a skilled tactician—dedicated to the art of war, a fast thinker who could plough into battle while others were still mapping out strategy, and, most importantly in Megatron’s eyes, a masterfully dirty fighter. However, Bonecrusher’s skills left him consigned to a supervisory position and kept him off the battlefield, which, of course, he hated. Naturally, this only helped to increase his already epic levels of frustration and misery at his lot in life, until he became what he is today. [1] He’s so intensely pent-up that he’ll unflinchingly take on opponents of any size—the bigger the better! Bonecrusher wouldn’t hesitate to confront Optimus Prime head on, if he could.
He transforms into a Buffalo mine-clearing vehicle used by the military, perhaps because it was the vehicle he hated the least.
“Let it die. And you with it.”
Brawl/Devastator

To say Brawl is a warrior is like calling Cybertron a hunk of metal. Brawl does not just enjoy fighting, he is consumed by it. Tearing Autobots apart is embedded into his very core, and every fiber-optic cable of his being is obsessed with wild, unyielding combat. The only thing he enjoys, or even cares about, is the fury of battle. And he loves a good explosion. Particularly if it’s one he created, and if it’s an Autobot that is exploding.
While it’s not uncommon for ambition or independent thinking to cause trouble in the Decepticon ranks, Brawl’s never had that problem. This is mostly because he suffers from a severe lack of both qualities. Where others question orders, Brawl simply carries them out, perfectly happy to let Megatron do all his thinking for him.
“See, me, I go by one guiding principle—keep it stupid… simple!”
Devastator is the combined form of the Constructicons.
The team’s combined form is brutality in its purest form—his sole purpose is to destroy anything and everything that gets in his way. It is ironic that the suitably intelligent Constructicons should sacrifice their thinking ability in their combined form, but simple-mindedness is a common limitation of the assorted other first-generation combining Transformers, because Devastator’s thoughts and actions are limited to what his six components can agree upon at any given time.[1] Consequently, Devastator seems like a being of instinct, lashing out at everything around him before contemplating the consequences, but he is also slow and lumbering and very easy to trip up.[2]
According to information printed in the Marvel U.K. Transformers comic book Devastator is about 100 feet tall. The notes for the 1984 animated series place him as a bit shorter though, being only 48 feet tall.
Demolishor/Scavenger

Demolishor was a regular character in the show and one of Megatron‘s most faithful troops, whose loyalty to his Lord was always beyond any doubt. His transformation was that from a robot to a self-propelled track-laying multitube gun (indeed, a sort of a Cybertronian tank). He was extremely strong and acted usually in conformity with the principle «big strength is better than big brains», especially when it was necessary to crush or destroy something. He was of a serious and rather morose disposition.
He mostly acted as the muscle of the group, partnered with Starscream and Cyclonus to battle the Autobots. When meeting the ‘Bots in single combat, however, he often lost because of his sluggishness.[2]
Demolishor played no major role in the series aside from acting as Megatron’s favoured military tactician, prior to Thrust’s arrival. In spite of his rough and grumbling nature, he was a true mate. Though Demolishor obviously had little liking for Starscream (and even fought him several times), he interceded for him with Megatron and saved his life twice, at any rate. Once Demolishor saved Starscream by cutting the power ropes the latter was bound with, when Red Alert and Smokescreen attacked him in the forest and tried to disarm him. However, after doing this, he declared to Starscream (who was surprised very much by such a friendly service) that he saved not him but the Star Saber (Episode 17, “Conspiracy”). But possibly Demolisher’s most important act during this period was to smash through the doors of the Decepticon base at one point to save Starscream from Megatron’s wrath ( Episode 23, “Rebellion”).
In Episode 43, “Puppet,” he was heavily damaged by Nemesis Prime. Thanks to the Mini-Cons, he and several other Transformers got powerlinx upgrades, which meant he was much more powerful. His new color scheme of red and white was meant as a tribute to his Japanese namesake Ironhide. He fought against Unicron and was one of the few to survive the final battle. His Mini-Con partner was Blackout. Demolishor was very fond of him and even risked his neck when Blackout was in danger during the battle with Unicron.
A former instructor at Cybertron‘s top military academy, Scavenger sets the bar high. It was his (and Landmine‘s) strict training regimen for the now-legendary Autobot leader Optimus Prime that has pushed the Autobots to countless victories. Not easily impressed, Scavenger despises cockiness and values only true skill. Like Optimus Prime, he sees potential in the young Hot Shot. Hot Shot is hotheaded and cocksure, especially now that he wields the Star Saber sword. Scavenger sees this as a problem.
But it’s nothing that can’t be beaten out of him.
